Our vineyard evolved from the idea to have a project to keep ourselves fully occupied as we slowly entered into retirement. Personally having worked in Italy for over 20 years, I thought it would be great to see if we could produce some fabulous wine too!
The Silverstone Vineyard birth was in 2018, when I approached Andy Kitchin of Shacks Barn Farm Silverstone, to investigate if they had any suitable land available that would work for this project. This visit evolved into a joint venture between myself and Andy’s team, who embraced my vision and passion to establish a vineyard and make my own quality English sparkling wine.

Our Journey
The first phase was planted in April 2019, consisting of 1800 vines, 600 Rondo, 600 Seyval Blanc and 600 Solaris.
May 2020 saw the second phase, expanding the vineyard to 2300 vines, planted in what was possible the hottest May that any of us could remember.
Our first harvest was achieved in 2021, after battling with the English weather, frosts, drought, wind and rain, plus fending off the unwanted attention from the local wasps and wild life population.
In 2024, our dedication and hard work were rewarded when we won two prestigious awards at the IWSC International Wines and Spirits Competition 2024 held in London. It attracted thousands of entries from across the world, comprising of the most prestigious renown producers. Over two weeks, the IWSC’s team of over 120 international judges, including over 20 Masters of Wine and nearly a dozen Master Sommeliers judged entries. The results were released on 20th May 2024 and our Rondo Brut 2021 and Seyval Rosé Brut 2021 were both recognised for their excellence, marking a significant milestone in our vineyard’s journey.
Four exceptional, English, small-batch sparkling wines
Silverstone Vineyard partnered with Simon Day and Haygrove Evolution winery to support us through the wine making process, which resulted in the successful production of 4 varieties of traditional method quality English sparkling wines, white, blush and red, with a Rose planned to be ready in 2025.
Although not registered organic, our aim is to carefully manage the vines to maximise the influence of the local terroir on the quality of the grapes grown, which are selectively manually harvested.
Rondo – Red
75cl • 2021 • 11.5% vol
A ruby red wine, with purple-pink bubbles on pouring. Punchy aromas of blackberry, plum, cranberry and just a faint a hint of cherry lift from the glass. The palate is complex, with a delicious fizz, then cranberry, cherry, hint of red grapefruit and summer pudding characters. Finishes very long with a clean yet rounded finish.
“Red cherry fruit and rose on the palate, balanced with hints of savoury.”
IWSCTasting Note
Solaris – White
75cl • 2021 • 11.0% vol
Pours pale golden and clear, with a steady stream of bubbles. Delicious, elderflower and honeysuckle aromas, follow through to the palate with underlying hints of banana and hazelnut. Soft, mouth-filling fizz, with ripe tropical fruit flavours too. Soft acidity gives this dry wine a fruity richness to the finish.
Seyval – Blush
75cl • 2021 • 11.5% vol
Delicate, pretty pink blush colour with bright silvery bubbles. Green apple and pastry on the nose, with a hint of rose petal too. Palate opens up with baked apple, honeydew melon, and a dash of citrus. Perfectly balanced acidity with an incredibly long finish to this wine.
“Elegantly floral with savoury herbal notes and confected red fruit sharpness on the clean finish.”
